Study With Rowan
Hi!
My name is Rowan Pedraza. I'm a senior at the Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY, and an incoming freshman at Dartmouth College. I have experience teaching outdoor living skills, soccer, and rock-climbing as a senior counselor at Camp Winona in Bridgton, ME. Last year I created a program at my school in which I give weekly lessons to local middle-schoolers who qualify for lunch vouchers.
Study With Rowan offers hour-long weekly tutoring sessions in these subjects:
-
SAT/ACT
-
Classical Piano
-
College Application Writing
-
Math (elementary - second year Calculus)
-
English (elementary through 12th grade)
-
French (beginner through Post-AP)
-
Physics (first year through AP)
-
Chemistry (first year through AP)
These tutoring sessions can be over Zoom or in person at the library or cafe of your choice (if piano, we'll discuss location on a case-by-case basis).
My Story
I am incredibly proud of my academic achievements this year and last year. In the fall I was accepted to Dartmouth College. In January 2024 my performance of a classical piano piece, Chopin's Fourth Ballade, won an international competition. But I haven't always performed this way.
When I was a sophomore, I didn't know how to succeed in school. I chose to take all of the hardest courses possible, but struggled week after week - my performance could not match my ambitions. Over the past three years, with so much trial and error, I've learned how to succeed consistently.
I started this service because I want to share the techniques I've discovered - methods of learning, practicing, and studying that I wish I had earlier.
